I have been involved with resource management for close to 15 years. My competencies include marine parks management, science communication, policy development and advice, international development cooperation and research project management.
I have partaken in numerous marine and terrestrial field trips. My experience has involved organising coral collections in East Africa and on the Great Barrier Reef as well as using radio telemetry to track Koalas to assess home ranges for mine rehabilitation purposes in Central Queensland.
I have a Ph.D. in molecular ecology and conservation genetics followed by a three year post doc on genomic adaptation to climate change in corals on the Great Barrier Reef. I have over 15 peer reviewed publications, spanning subject areas of population genetics, speciation and taxonomy, genomics and transcriptomics.
